Our Services
You must be enrolled in the Asthma Information Outreach Project to receive the services of the project. Enrollment grants you privileges of the New York Academy of Medicine Library at no charge:
- Research services
- Document Delivery
- Interlibrary loan
- Borrowing privileges
- Web site hosting
- Discounted meeting space
Whenever making ANY requests, please indicate that you are a member of the Asthma Information Outreach Project. And, if you have ANY questions at all, please contact us.
Includes online searching, preparation of bibliographies, and data retrieval. Research services are provided by the coordinator of the Asthma Information Outreach Project or other Academy Librarians. If you have a research question, need to verify a fact, complete a citation, etc., contact the the project coordinator. In the event that the Coordinator is not in, there will be a voice mail message to that effect and you should address reference questions to the Academy Reference Desk at 212.822.7315. Please identify yourself as a participant in the Outreach Project.
Includes photocopies of journal articles, technical reports, and ohter publications delivered via fax or mail. You may phone in up to ten requests per day, five requests at a time to 212.822.7296. For lists of more than ten items, please fax your request to the Document Delivery department at 212.722.7650 or e-mail it to docdelnyam@nyam.org. Please include the following when making a request:
- Name
- Organization
- Phone number
- Delivery instructions (fax, mail, pickup, etc.)
- Note whether you would like us to obtain the material through ILL if we do not own the item requested.
You MUST also indicate that you are a member of the Asthma Information Outreach Project.
If we do not have material that you requested in our collection at the Academy, we can request them for you from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan. If you would like to check first whether or not we have the item, search our library catalog: http://nyamed.aspvoy.endinfosys.com.
Non-Rush requests are free of charge and take 7-10 working days. Rush requests may cost $25-$45 and take 3 business days.
ILL requests must be faxed to Document Delivery at 212.722.7650 -- please include a complete citation to the item you need and indicate that you are a member of the Asthma Information Outreach Project.Members of the Asthma Information Outreach Project can check out up to ten items per organization at a time from the Academy collection. Search our library catalog to determine what we have: http://nyamed.aspvoy.endinfosys.com. Then, contact our Document Delivery department with a full citation to the item you would like to borrow.
Books will be shipped to you via UPS. Please be mindful of the due date listed in the back of each book.
If your organization does not currently have a web site, the Outreach Project will create and host a basic site for you. If you choose to take advantage of the service, your website be located as follows:

Discounted Meeting Space
The New York Academy of Medicine Meetings/Conference Center if you would like to use our facilities for a program. Contact the Conference Center directly for arrangements at 212.822.7235.
